Oak, peppercorn and brass credenza

Peppercorn-fronted oak credenza with fumed oak, brass-pinned legs and laminated brass inlay detailing

Highly Commended in the Furniture Makers’ Company Design award 2019

Brass stringlining

Brass details continue through the drawer and door pulls, sandwiched between layers of constructional thickness fumed oak veneer

Unexpected openings

The central door break travels around the large middle drawer, revealing internal storage. Open-fronted compartments at either end of the cabinet provide versatile spaces in which to store items which are either accessed frequently or which may be actively put on display

Tucked away drawers

With the doors fully open, access is granted to two further internal drawers, fronted in the ivory colourway of the Piper peppercorn surface

Mixing up the roles which cabinets can play in both concealing and displaying items the credenza combines open end sections for showing off oversized art books and an easy-access central drawer with two more discrete drawers tucked away inside, all traditionally dovetailed and piston-fitted.

The most substantial piece to date to feature my unique Piper peppercorn surface.

Reminiscent of Shagreen - ray leather - black peppercorns in a semi-translucent black tinted resin adorn the doors and central drawer, while white peppercorns in an opaque ivory resin feature on the fronts of the tucked-away internal drawers. All housed in an oak carcass with laminated fumed oak and brass handles and detailing.
